SpendLedger ("we", "our", "the app") is a personal finance tracking tool that helps you understand your spending using your existing bank exports. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly.

2. What We Collect

Account information — your email address when you register. Your password is never stored; it is converted into a secure one-way hash that cannot be reversed or read by anyone, including us.
Transaction data — the financial records you choose to import via CSV upload. This data is stored privately under your account and is never viewed, accessed, or reviewed by us. It is used exclusively by the app to generate your personal reports and dashboard. Only you can see your transactions.
Usage metadata — basic activity signals such as last login time and transaction count. This is used solely to understand how the app is being used overall, ensure it runs reliably, and plan for future infrastructure needs. It is never used to profile you individually or shared with third parties.

3. What We Do NOT Collect

We never ask for or store your bank login credentials
We do not connect to your bank accounts directly
We do not collect payment information
We do not use tracking cookies or advertising pixels

4. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the SpendLedger service — importing transactions, categorizing spending, and generating your personal reports and dashboard. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. We do not work with advertisers or data brokers.

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secured cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your information.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and transaction data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

Regardless of where you are located, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and all associated data
Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

Canadian users (PIPEDA) and California users (CCPA) have additional statutory rights under their respective laws. Contact us to exercise them.

9. Children's Privacy

SpendLedger is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of any material changes via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
